Barbera de Jong-Elder

Chief People Officer

Barbera has extensive experience as a Human Resources professional with in-depth expertise in leadership development, organizational evolution, talent sourcing and on- boarding. She is accustomed to handling sensitive, confidential and complex engagements for large-scale technology companies including Cisco and Juniper Networks. She has specialist skills in multi-country and multi-cultural engagements throughout Europe and the Middle East and Africa and has worked in the UK, Dubai and the US. Barbera is perfectly placed to build on our success as an award-winning employer and grow a class- leading team at Currencycloud.

Fiona Tee

Chief Financial Officer

Fiona joined Currencycloud in April 2016 with a wealth of experience in leading influential finance and technology companies. Fiona has held senior positions at large corporates such as Mastercard and KPMG, right through to start-ups and VC backed businesses such as Omnico Group and Mondex International. This experience means that Fiona has become the go-to woman for driving high growth in innovative technology start-ups. Things that bring together the strategic and commercial talents of Currencycloud are Fiona’s forte. She is also passionate about providing more “real” models, not role models, for women in finance and technology.

Mark Ledsham

Chief Operating Officer

Mark is a business leader who combines strong operational skills with financial acumen. In his own words he is a customer maniac and believes in the power of diverse multi- disciplined teams to drive customer focussed outcomes. Currencycloud’s underlying compliance and payment infrastructure as the firm continues to grow internationally.

Mike Laven

Chief Executive Officer

With almost 30 years’ experience at the helm of a number of high growth fintech and technology businesses, Mike is well-known for his ability to build venture-backed organisations and lead them to profitable growth. Having originally spent six years working for the United Nations, Mike has since gained a glowing reputation for fintech expertise, with executive roles at Infinity Financial Technology, Cohera, Coronet and Traiana. Mike joined Currencycloud in 2012, and as CEO is influential in growing the firm to become a leader in embedded finance. Under his leadership, Currencycloud has established itself as a leading force in the digital financial services revolution and has raised over $140m in funding (as of January 2020).

Neil Drennan

Chief Technology Officer

Neil is a strategic technology leader with strong innovation, architecture, design, development, test, system integration and support experience in rapidly evolving cloud environments. He brings in-depth knowledge of agile, waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies to Currencycloud. Previously CTO at 10X Future Technologies, Drennan has also held roles at BBC Worldwide, Amazon and Virgin Media and is responsible for the build and development of Currencycloud’s platform and supporting technology solutions.

Nick Cheetham

Chief Revenue Officer

Nick thrives in environments where new technology and creative ideas bring about market disruption. Prior to Currencycloud, Nick created a new division for mobile banking player, Monitise, introducing a ground-breaking development-to-production platform for banks, resulting in the group’s acquisition in 2017 by US giant, Fiserv. At Currencycloud, Nick’s role is to support the global sales and client success teams with this rich experience and passion for bringing outstanding value to customers.

Richard Arundel

Chief Evangelist & Co-founder

As one of Currencycloud’s founders, Richard has played an important role in the company’s rapid growth. Having started his career at HiFX – one of the largest foreign exchange market brokers in the UK – Richard has a deep understanding of the finance and payments sector. Prior to becoming Chief Evangelist, Richard has held successive positions as GM of Currencycloud’s North America business, Sales Director, Client Relationship Director and VP Client Services at Currencycloud, helping the company increase revenue, size and scope. On his return from New York in December 2020, Richard has taken on the role of Chief Evangelist, sitting at the intersection of sales, product, marketing and growth to help drive our efforts in new and existing segments, gathering insights from front-line sales teams and the wider market, while representing Currencycloud as the market leader in embedded, cross-border solutions.

Stephen Lemon

Co-founder, VP Corporate Development

Steve saw the first wave of the unbundling of financial services at the start of his career. As a founding member of HiFX he led the global retail business, with a remit to help private individuals understand the new way of making overseas payments away from their bank. As an early advocate of what we now recognize as embedded finance, Steve went on to Co-Found Currencycloud. Having held leadership roles in many parts of the sales organisation his deep understanding of the broader payments ecosystem and Fintech in general, has enabled him to play a significant part in developing the business and driving growth - most notably acquiring and developing key enterprise relationships with organizations such as Visa. Outside of Currencycloud Steve is a keen contributor to the Fintech ecosystem and is occasional advisor to early stage companies and mentor through Techstars.

Stuart Bailey

Chief Product Officer

Stuart joined Currencycloud in October 2016 from Direct Line Group PLC, where he was Head of Digital Performance and Product Management across all the Group’s brands. He trained as a management consultant and has led corporate strategy and performance improvement projects across a wide range of sectors: from Online Gaming and Financial Services to the Public Sector. After working on Direct Line’s £2.6 billion IPO from RBS in October 2012, he found his calling in Product Management and now spends his days obsessing about solving customer problems with new features and products, improving velocity and agile ways of working.

Tanya Ziv

Chief Compliance Officer

Tanya started her career as an M&A lawyer and over the past 12 years she has been responsible for leading the compliance drive for a number of leading finance, technology and telecommunications firms, acting as Head of Compliance for Lebara, eToro and Cornercard. Tanya is in charge of Currencycloud’s compliance program and further developing the company’s strong culture of integrity as it expands into new international markets. She’s also helping to deliver continuous payment innovations to Currencycloud’s clients by injecting creativity back into the compliance process.
