Episode 100! Introducing Lauren Passey and Alex Barr from Currencycloud EMEA

In today’s episode, I’m excited to introduce two new Payments Innovation hosts from Currencycloud’s EMEA team.

I’m joined by Lauren Passey, Sales Director, and Alex Barr, Senior Sales Consultant, to discuss why they want to host, what’s exciting them in finance overseas and what to expect in their upcoming episodes.

“’It’s a bit of a unique time to provide some fintech perspective.” — Alex Barr

“The adoption of open banking technology is going to be really powerful across all areas of fintech and not just within payments.” — Lauren Passey

Lauren

Lauren has been with Currencycloud for over 6 years now.

Originally in the account management team, now she looks after all things fintech in EMEA, having moved to the Amsterdam office earlier this year.

Lauren is excited to talk about the many rapid-fire changes the world of finance is experiencing on an international scale.

She’s on the frontlines, witnessing the rise of partnerships, embedded finance and other disruptions in EMEA.

She hopes to bring another perspective to the global events shaping the transformation of finance but also wants to shine a light on the regional issues happening overseas.

A particularly exciting area for her is the opportunities presented by the rise of open banking.

“The adoption of open banking technology is going to be really powerful across all areas of fintech and not just within payments.” — Lauren Passey

That’s a topic she’ll be diving into with a foremost expert on the show pretty soon

But we don’t want to give too much away — you’ll have to listen for yourself.

Alex

Alex works with Lauren on her team in the Amsterdam office and has been with the company for 2 years.

He’s been in fintech for the past 6 years and has experience ranging from trade finance to lending and payments, more generally.

He takes a particular interest in the hurdles — both regulatory and, more importantly, cultural — organizations need to overcome in order to do financial business internationally.

“’It’s a bit of a unique time to provide some fintech perspective.” — Alex Barr

He’s also keen to discuss how the state of the world right now is affecting the future of finance and fintech.

The practical realities of Brexit, the politics US elections and, of course, the pandemic are all making waves across the financial landscape.

Alex will be diving into how these global events are shaping the market — and what it means for you.
